A Pakistan Navy SSG commando left his own valima ceremony to recover a tourist’s body from a river in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Bhimber district.
The tourist from Sargodha drowned while swimming in the river during a visit to his relatives in Samahni Jandala of Bhimber.
Rescue 1122 teams sought the help of Pakistan Navy SSG Commando Ummar Ali, who was attending his valima ceremony at the time.
Ali promptly left the ceremony and arrived at the site to lead the rescue operations. After two hours of effort, he successfully recovered the body.
The local community praised Ali on social media for his courage and dedication.
