Ayesha Jahanzeb Wins Divorce Settlement; Custody of Children to Be Shared
The Lahore family court has granted a divorce decree to prominent TV anchor Ayesha Jahanzeb. In her petition, Ayesha expressed her desire to end her marriage to Haris Ali, citing irreconcilable differences and ongoing issues.
The court’s decision includes a provision for shared custody of the couple’s children, ensuring that both parents remain involved in their upbringing.
Ayesha Jahanzeb revealed that, despite previous attempts to address issues with Haris’s family concerning domestic abuse, no resolution was achieved, leading her to seek a divorce.
Previously, Ayesha had refrained from taking legal action against Haris, though she faced domestic abuse. She dispelled rumors of a reconciliation, emphasizing her choice to shield her children from the legal disputes.
Ayesha clarified that the difficulties she faced were severe and should not be endured by any woman. Witnesses were present during the finalization of the agreement, and Haris was previously detained by Sarwar Road police on charges related to the abuse, though he was released on bail.
The abuse complaints, filed on July 10, detailed incidents of physical violence occurring over the past year. Despite initially attempting to preserve the marriage, Ayesha decided to pursue legal action due to the ongoing abuse, which included violent episodes witnessed by their daughters.
