The federal government has increased the house rent ceiling for all its employees by 45 percent, covering grades 1 to 22, across six major cities, with the highest increase in Islamabad. According to a notification by the Ministry of Housing and Works, the revised rent ceilings will apply to federal employees in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar.
The rent ceiling for grade 22 employees has been increased to Rs142,743 per month in Islamabad and Rs125,989 in the other cities, up from Rs98,444 and Rs89,230, respectively. Grade 21 employees will now receive Rs119,278 in Islamabad and Rs98,378 elsewhere, compared to their previous rates of Rs82,261 and Rs71,107.
Similarly, grade 20 officers will see their rent ceiling rise to Rs99,615 for Islamabad and Rs82,696 for other cities. Grade 19 officials will now be entitled to Rs79,320 in Islamabad and Rs65,542 in other cities.
For grades 17 and 18, the new ceiling is Rs59,669 in Islamabad and Rs49,808 in other cities. Employees in grades 14 to 16 will receive Rs45,073 in Islamabad and Rs37,665 in the other cities. The rent ceilings for grades 11-13 have increased to Rs35,878 for Islamabad and Rs30,815 elsewhere.
Employees in grades 7 to 10 now have ceilings of Rs23,784 in Islamabad and Rs20,112 in other cities, while those in grades 3 to 6 will receive Rs15,921 and Rs13,230. For grades 1 and 2, the ceiling is Rs10,192 in Islamabad and Rs9,590 in the other cities.
These increases apply to both fresh hires and existing employees required to cover rent differences, based on market surveys and employee requests.
