The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have called on civilians in 37 villages and towns in southern Lebanon to evacuate immediately and move north of the Awali River.
In recent days, the IDF has issued similar evacuation warnings to numerous areas in southern Lebanon, including regions north of the Litani River.
“Hezbollah’s actions are forcing the IDF to respond. The IDF does not wish to harm civilians,” said Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman, in a statement on X (formerly Twitter). “For your safety, you must evacuate your homes immediately. Anyone near Hezbollah members, their facilities, or weapons is putting themselves at risk.”
The IDF has assured civilians that they will be informed when it is safe to return.
These evacuations are taking place as Israel continues ground operations in southern Lebanon.
The military has characterized these actions as “limited, localized, and targeted raids” aimed at dismantling Hezbollah’s infrastructure near the border. Officials have stated that the goal is to conclude these operations as quickly as possible.
