A unique cross-border wedding ceremony took place in Uttar Pradesh when the son of a BJP leader married a Pakistani woman via an online nikah.
Tahseen Shahid, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator, organized the marriage of his elder son, Mohammad Abbas Haider, to Andleep Zahra, a resident of Lahore. Although the couple applied for a visa, Haider was unable to obtain one due to the ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan.
The situation became more challenging when the bride’s mother, Rana Yasmin Zaidi, fell seriously ill and was admitted to the ICU in Pakistan. In light of these difficulties, Shahid decided to conduct the wedding ceremony online.
On Friday night, Shahid gathered with the baraati at an imambargah, while the bride’s family participated in the ceremony from Lahore via video link.
Haider expressed hope that his wife would soon receive her Indian visa without any issues.
The wedding was attended by BJP MLC Brijesh Singh Prishu and other guests, who offered their congratulations to the groom’s family.
