Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his demand for an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Sharif as its capital during his address at the Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh on Monday.
Speaking in Saudi Arabia’s capital, the Prime Minister stressed that establishing a sovereign Palestinian state is now more essential than ever.
He also called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, condemning Israel’s actions as a severe escalation of aggression. “Israel has crossed all boundaries in Gaza, where hunger, poverty, and famine have taken root,” he stated.
PM Shehbaz Sharif voiced solidarity with the Palestinian people, highlighting the devastating impact of the conflict, including thousands of casualties and the displacement of millions. He criticized Israel for violating international laws and norms, urging the global community to intervene and halt Israeli actions in Palestine.
The premier praised the Arab and Islamic leaders convening at the summit, describing it as a pivotal step toward addressing the ongoing crisis. “This is a crucial moment for unity and collective discussion on Palestine,” he added.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister, also present at the summit, characterized the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as unimaginable and accused Israel of weaponizing aid restrictions to further its military aims.
He urged an immediate halt to arms supplies to Israel, adding that Israel’s actions against Iran were exacerbating regional tensions.
The Riyadh Arab-Islamic Conference drew prominent leaders, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
The summit has seen a strong, unified condemnation of Israel’s military actions in Gaza, with calls for a swift ceasefire and a collaborative effort to end the violence.
Earlier, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and other leaders condemned the Israeli offensive, emphasizing their commitment to achieving peace and resolving the crisis in the region.
