ISLAMABAD: At least three additional cases have been filed against Bushra Bibi, wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, in various police stations in Gujranwala. These cases involve charges of hate speech, religious provocation, and other allegations stemming from her video statement criticizing Saudi Arabia.
The cases were registered at Sadar Gujranwala, Civil Lines, and Gakhar Mandi police stations based on complaints from local citizens. Two of the cases were filed last Saturday, while a new case was registered on Sunday at the Gakhar Mandi police station.
In the latest case, complainant Mohammad Saeed Butt, a resident of Sultan Pura in Gakhar Mandi, claimed he was at a restaurant when Bushra Bibi’s statement was broadcast. In her remarks, she allegedly accused Saudi Arabia of straying from Sharia law, which he argued caused significant harm to Pakistan-Saudi relations.
The charges in this case include Sections 295A, 298, 153, and 126 of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with provisions from the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016.
A similar case was also registered by police in Okara.
Previously, three separate cases had been lodged against Bushra Bibi at police stations in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, and Layyah over her controversial remarks about Saudi leadership.
