Navjot Kaur, wife of Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, has been served a $100 million (around Rs 850 crore) legal notice by the Chhattisgarh Civil Society (CCS) over claims about her recovery from Stage 4 cancer.
On November 21, Navjot Singh Sidhu announced that his wife had overcome Stage 4 cancer, despite an initial prognosis of just 40 days to live. Sidhu credited her recovery to dietary and lifestyle changes, referring to cancer as “inflammation” triggered by foods like milk, wheat, refined flour, and sugar.
Medical experts and CCS strongly criticized these remarks, warning that such unverified claims could mislead patients into abandoning medically approved treatments. Dr. Kuldeep Solanki, CCS Convener, highlighted the dangers of promoting unscientific remedies. The legal notice demands an explanation and warns against endorsing treatments lacking scientific validation.
In a clarifying statement, Sidhu explained that his wife’s dietary adjustments were developed with medical guidance and complemented standard cancer treatments rather than replacing them.
