French journalist Marine Vlahovic, renowned for her vocal advocacy for the Palestinian cause, was found dead on November 25th on the rooftop terrace of her apartment in Marseille, France, according to local media reports.
The Marseille prosecutor’s office has stated that initial autopsy results suggest no foul play, although toxicology tests are still underway to determine the exact cause of her death.
Vlahovic, 39, gained recognition for her coverage of the struggles faced by Palestinians in Ramallah, West Bank, from 2016 to 2019. During this time, she contributed to several major media outlets, including RFI, Radio France, Le Soir, and Swiss Radio Television (RTS).
After relocating to Marseille in 2019, she continued to maintain ties with journalists in Gaza and had plans to return to Palestine. At the time of her death in 2024, she was reportedly working on a documentary investigating the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
