Supreme Court Justice Mansoor Ali Shah firmly dismissed resignation speculations on Saturday, reaffirming his commitment to judicial duties and reforms.
Speaking at a conference in Islamabad, Justice Mansoor Shah stated, “These are mere speculations. I am here to work and will continue to strive for systemic improvements.” He clarified his stance while addressing reporters in the capital.
Advocacy for Judicial Reforms
Justice Shah reiterated his dedication to advancing the judiciary, specifically advocating for urgent reforms. He called for the establishment of children’s courts to ensure swift justice for minors.
Attending a separate event in Islamabad, he emphasized the need to protect children’s rights in the justice system. “Children are the future of our nation, yet their voices often go unheard, even in courtrooms,” he noted.
He outlined critical challenges affecting children in Pakistan, including over 25 million out-of-school children, insufficient facilities for those with special needs, and ongoing issues like child marriages and forced conversions. He also highlighted threats such as cyberbullying and corporal punishment.
Justice Shah urged collective efforts to address these concerns and stressed the judiciary’s role in creating a safe, inclusive environment for the younger generation. “I will do whatever is necessary for systemic improvements,” he said.
His comments came amidst ongoing rumors of discord within the judiciary, including a recent exchange with Chief Justice Yahya Afridi during court proceedings.
