Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to approve the appointments of 19 new ambassadors and consuls general for various countries, as per a summary forwarded by the Foreign Office.
Rahim Hayat Qureshi, currently serving as Secretary of the Board of Investment, will be appointed as ambassador to Brussels, home to the European Union headquarters. Asima Rabbani will assume the role of ambassador to the Philippines, while Abdul Hameed Bhutta is designated for Japan.
Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, a former Foreign Office spokesperson, will take on the role of ambassador to Indonesia. Najeeb Durrani is appointed as ambassador to Ghana. Additional appointments include Moazzam Shah as ambassador to South Korea, Malik Muhammad Farooq to South Africa, and Syed Adil Gilani to Morocco. Tariq Karim and Aqsa Nawaz are assigned to represent Pakistan in African countries.
Syed Haider Shah will serve as ambassador to the Netherlands, Amir Shaukat to Egypt, Shehryar Akbar to the Czech Republic, and Marghoob Saleem Butt to Switzerland.
The consular appointments include Zaman Mehdi as consul general in Chicago, Wajid Hashmi in Melbourne, Tanveer Bhatti in Chengdu, China, and Imtiaz Gondal in Manchester, United Kingdom.
These appointments reflect Pakistan’s focus on enhancing diplomatic relations globally and strengthening ties with partner nations.
