Activist Gulfam Hussain Kayani has been released on bail by Scotland Yard with a condition barring him from approaching the Avenfield flats, where members of the Sharif family reside.
Gulfam, who briefly aligned with PML-N before joining PTI, was arrested on Friday night after making threats against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, former PM Nawaz Sharif, and other family members, including threatening to damage the Park Lane flats during a live TikTok broadcast.
Following his release, Gulfam stated, “I have been banned from going near the Sharif family’s Avenfield flats. If I violate this, I will face re-arrest. I am on bail until April. The police showed me my TikTok videos, which were political statements. I don’t support violence and will continue my struggle.”
Gulfam revealed that police seized four of his mobile phones as part of their investigation. He added that his actions stemmed from frustration over Imran Khan’s conviction in the £190 million case. “I went live to prove my loyalty to PTI supporters and demonstrate my opposition to the Sharifs,” he explained.
In one of his recent broadcasts, Gulfam made incendiary remarks, including threats to harm the Sharif family and damage the Avenfield flats. He also expressed plans to “avenge” any harm to Imran Khan. During his arrest at the gates of Avenfield flats, Gulfam was live on TikTok, interacting with his followers.
The complaint leading to his arrest was filed by Khurram Butt, leader of PML-N UK’s Youth Wing, who also previously petitioned against Imran Khan at Oxford University. Gulfam accused Butt and Nawaz Sharif’s grandson Zakaria of conspiring against him, alleging that Butt provided incriminating video evidence to the police.
Once a vocal PML-N supporter, Gulfam switched to PTI four months ago, actively promoting the party on social media. He left his job as a chef to focus on his TikTok broadcasts, regularly sharing live content with his followers.
