LAHORE: The Punjab Women’s Police have arrested Haseeb Afzal, the main suspect, in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a female MPhil student in Muslim Town.
According to the police, efforts are underway to apprehend the other two suspects, Talha and Hamza.
“The victim has undergone a medical examination, and the report will provide further clarity on the incident,” a police spokesperson stated.
Initial investigations suggest that the victim met Haseeb Afzal through social media. Police allege that Afzal, along with Talha and Hamza, not only sexually assaulted the victim but also recorded videos of the attack.
Earlier, A female student from a prominent private university in Lahore was reportedly gang-raped by three suspects in a flat within a private housing society on Raiwind Road.
The Racecourse Women Police Station has registered a case, naming the three suspects.
According to the FIR, the victim stated that one of the suspects, identified as ‘H,’ befriended her on social media and proposed marriage. She alleged that when she refused his attempts to establish a physical relationship, he devised a plan to lure her.
The victim recounted that the suspect picked her up in his car and took her to a high-end housing scheme, where he introduced her to two of his friends. Under the pretext of having breakfast, he then drove her and his friends to a flat within the housing society.
At the flat, the victim alleged, the three suspects gang-raped her and filmed the assault to blackmail her. She claimed the suspects threatened to upload the videos on social media if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
Additionally, the victim reported that the suspects took some of her sister’s bank cheques before abandoning her on a deserted road.
