The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has completed all necessary preparations to meet international standards as it undergoes an audit by a team from the British Department for Transport (DFT). The audit, which began on Monday, is expected to run until February 6.
A successful audit could potentially lead to the lifting of the ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and other Pakistani carriers flying to the United Kingdom, according to sources.
The CAA has ensured it is fully prepared for the inspection, aiming to demonstrate compliance with global aviation standards.
On January 10, Pakistan’s national flag carrier resumed flights to Europe after a four-and-a-half-year break, with its first flight safely landing at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport. Charge d’Affairs Huzefa Khanum, who was present to welcome the flight, emphasized the significance of this service for the Pakistani diaspora. She highlighted that it would foster stronger ties between Pakistan, France, and the European Union, boosting trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges. PIA plans to operate flights to Paris twice a week from Islamabad.
