Balochistan Operations
A series of military operations in Balochistan, led by Pakistan’s security forces, resulted in the killing of 23 terrorists, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.
The operations were conducted in response to terrorist activities aimed at destabilizing the province. During an operation in Mangocher, terrorists attempted to establish roadblocks and disrupt the peace by targeting innocent civilians.
The ISPR stated that this act of terrorism was orchestrated by hostile and inimical forces, intending to create chaos in the region.
In a swift response, security forces, including law enforcement agencies, were deployed and successfully neutralized 12 of the terrorists involved in the attack. However, the operations came at a significant cost, with 18 soldiers of the Frontier Corps (FC) embracing martyrdom while bravely fighting off the attackers.
The military’s media wing expressed pride in the valor of the fallen soldiers, highlighting their ultimate sacrifice in ensuring the safety of the local population.
Following the initial operation, a follow-up sanitization operation was launched in Harnai on Saturday. This operation resulted in the killing of 11 more terrorists, bringing the total number of militants killed to 23.
The ISPR further emphasized that these sanitization operations would continue until all those responsible for the cowardly acts of terrorism are apprehended and brought to justice.
Despite the heavy losses, the security forces remain resolute in their mission to maintain peace and stability in Balochistan. The sacrifices of these brave soldiers have only strengthened their resolve to defeat the elements seeking to destabilize the region.
In a show of solidarity, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both paid tribute to the 18 FC soldiers who lost their lives during the attack.
They condemned the terrorist act, emphasizing that such attacks were designed to disrupt the peace in Balochistan, and assured that the security forces would continue their operations to eliminate anti-state elements.
The leaders also expressed their condolences to the families of the martyrs and prayed for their strength and patience during this difficult time.
This incident occurred less than a day after separate anti-terrorist operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where at least 10 terrorists were killed in five operations, according to ISPR.
These operations are part of a broader, ongoing effort to curb the surge in violent attacks that has been exacerbated since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan in 2021. The security situation in Pakistan has become increasingly challenging, with Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa being hotspots for such attacks.
The year 2024 has been one of the deadliest for Pakistan’s civil and military forces, with over 680 fatalities and more than 440 terror attacks reported, as per the “CRSS Annual Security Report 2024.”
The report highlighted a sharp rise in violence, with civilians and security personnel accounting for over 63% of the total fatalities. Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were the hardest-hit provinces, accounting for the highest number of fatalities.
The violence and terror attacks that plagued the year serve as a grim reminder of the challenges faced by the nation in its ongoing fight against terrorism.
