Army Chief
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited Balochistan to assess the current security situation, receiving a detailed briefing from senior security and intelligence officials.
During his visit, General Munir, accompanied by the governor and chief minister of Balochistan, participated in offering funeral prayers for the martyrs and visited injured soldiers at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Quetta.
He praised the soldiers’ unwavering commitment and courage in defending the nation, highlighting their sacrifices in the face of adversity.
Addressing the ongoing security challenges, General Munir condemned the role of terrorist proxies operating under the influence of foreign masters, accusing them of manipulating double standards and playing the role of “frenemies.”
These proxies, he asserted, act as allies while secretly supporting hostile elements against Pakistan. “No matter what these so-called ‘frenemies’ may do, you will surely be defeated by the resilience of our proud nation and its Armed Forces, Inshallah,” he said.
He assured that Pakistan’s armed forces are ready to retaliate whenever and wherever necessary to protect the nation. “We will hunt down those responsible for harming our people,” he emphasized.
General Munir also recognized the efforts of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and other law enforcement agencies, praising their courage and determination in combating terrorism.
He reiterated the army’s commitment to the security and well-being of the people of Balochistan and assured continued support to the provincial government in fostering peace, stability, and development in the region.
The visit comes after a brutal terrorist attack on January 31 and February 1 in the Mangocher area of Kalat district, which resulted in the martyrdom of 18 Frontier Corps soldiers.
The attackers attempted to set up illegal roadblocks in a bid to destabilize the region. In response, security forces launched a swift counter-operation, killing 12 terrorists and ensuring the safety of local civilians.
Following this, additional sanitization operations were conducted in Balochistan, resulting in the elimination of 23 terrorists in a 24-hour period. The operations also led to the destruction of several terrorist hideouts in the Harnai district.
The armed forces remain resolute in their commitment to safeguarding Balochistan’s peace, stability, and progress, with each sacrifice strengthening their resolve to combat terrorism and its destructive impact on the region.
The sacrifices of the martyred soldiers have been a reminder of the nation’s resilience and its steadfast determination to protect its sovereignty and people from all forms of terror.
