Morocco Boat Tragedy
In a significant move to support the families of Pakistani nationals who tragically lost their lives in a recent boat accident off the coast of Morocco, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has announced the repatriation of the mortal remains of 13 individuals.
The process is set to be completed this week, ensuring that the deceased are brought back to their homeland for proper burial.
Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan confirmed in an official statement that the remains of four Pakistanis will arrive in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The deceased individuals include Hamid Shabbir from Mandi Bahauddin, Muhammad Arslan Khan from Shaikhupura, Qaiser Iqbal from Gujrat, and Sajjad Ali from Mandi Bahauddin. Their bodies will be transported to their respective hometowns, where their families will be able to perform the final rites.
The repatriation process has been meticulously planned in collaboration with various government agencies to ensure the smooth arrival and transportation of the deceased.
A dedicated facilitation desk has been established at Islamabad International Airport to provide assistance to the grieving families. In addition, ambulances will be available to transport the bodies to their final destinations.
To further support the process, a medical team will be on standby at the airport to offer any necessary assistance. A mortuary has also been arranged for the temporary storage of the remains, should the need arise.
The Ministry of Interior has taken responsibility for implementing the required standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure a seamless repatriation.
In recognition of the national significance of the tragedy, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has coordinated media coverage to keep the public informed about the ongoing efforts.
The Pakistani government remains committed to supporting the affected families and ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to honor those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident.
