Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has written a third open letter to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, reiterating claims of election rigging and alleging that corrupt individuals were placed in power through fraudulent means, his lawyer Faisal Chaudhry stated on Wednesday.
According to Chaudhry, Imran’s letter highlights concerns over what he describes as the prioritization of a minority over the majority through manipulated elections. The former prime minister, who has been in jail since August 2023, previously addressed similar concerns in two open letters to the army chief on February 3 and February 8, arguing that democratic channels for addressing grievances had been blocked.
In his earlier correspondence, Imran emphasized what he described as the growing disconnect between the military and the public. He laid out six key points, urging the army leadership to reconsider its approach and take steps to regain public trust.
In his latest letter, the PTI founder reiterated accusations that “money launderers” were brought into power through rigging. He also linked rising terrorism to a lack of rule of law, warning of broader consequences for the country’s stability.
Furthermore, Imran claimed that at least 1.8 million Pakistanis had left the country and that capital flight had resulted in the loss of approximately $20 billion.
The letter marks yet another attempt by the imprisoned PTI leader to challenge the legitimacy of the recent elections and appeal for a shift in state policies.
