Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat on Saturday broke his silence regarding his removal from the party, questioning the internal decision-making process and alleging undue influence from certain individuals.
Marwat expressed his concerns over the way his expulsion was handled, stating, “Is it justified for the PTI founder to expel me based on the recommendations of a few individuals?” He emphasized his long-standing commitment to the party and suggested that his removal was orchestrated by select figures within PTI.
One of Marwat’s primary grievances was the lack of transparency in party finances. “I had demanded an audit of the payments made to digital media and legal teams from party funds,” he revealed. He also pointed to ongoing tensions with senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja, questioning why Raja had issues with him. “Propaganda machines were activated against me on Raja’s instructions,” he claimed.
A few days earlier, Marwat had temporarily held back from openly criticizing PTI. However, he clarified that his expulsion was not a direct decision by PTI founder Imran Khan but rather the result of maneuvering by a select group that had access to him. “Some individuals who meet Imran Khan regularly played a role in my removal,” he asserted.
Marwat further argued that political parties should not involve themselves in internal disputes between members. “If there is a disagreement between individuals, the party should not take sides, but in my case, PTI acted as a direct party from the beginning,” he remarked.
His statements indicate a deepening rift within PTI, raising questions about internal accountability and decision-making.
