ISLAMABAD: ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice has lauded the swift redevelopment of Gaddafi Stadium and National Stadium, describing their transformation in just 117 days as a remarkable achievement, according to Express News.
Speaking at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 opening ceremony at Lahore Fort on Sunday, Allardice expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament.
“Pakistan has a golden opportunity to showcase its passion for cricket,” he said. “I was there for Pakistan’s victory in the Champions Trophy final at The Oval, and I’m looking forward to seeing more great cricket here.”
He specifically praised the upgraded infrastructure, with a special mention of the rapid transformation of Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. “The completion of Gaddafi Stadium in just 117 days is a huge achievement,” Allardice remarked.
The ICC CEO assured fans that the tournament would be packed with exciting action, adding, “Over the next two weeks, cricket lovers will witness some of the best cricket in Pakistan.”
