ISLAMABAD: Oil tankers and goods transport associations have issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the government, urging it to meet the demands of the Balochistan Goods Truck Trailer Owners Association.
The associations claim that operating a ten-wheel vehicle now costs approximately Rs3 million. They argue that vehicle owners have already upgraded their trucks, and the newly imposed restrictions will render these vehicles idle, resulting in substantial financial losses for both the owners and workers.
If their demands are not addressed, the associations have warned of a nationwide protest that would involve blocking major highways across all four provinces.
The protest has garnered support from various groups, including the Oil Tankers Association, Edible Oil Tankers Association, All Pakistan Truck Association, Sindh-Balochistan Mazda Goods Transport, Goods Transport Association, Car Carriers, Water Tankers, Sindh Dumpers, and Karachi Goods Transport Association.
These associations have emphasized that if the load axle restrictions are not lifted, they will proceed with the strike in solidarity with the Balochistan Goods Truck Trailer Owners Association, paralyzing key transport routes across the country.
