Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir arrived in the United Kingdom on Wednesday to participate in the 7th Regional Stabilisation Conference, where he is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on “The Emerging World Order and Pakistan’s Future Outlook.”
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the conference provides a vital platform for high-level military discussions between Pakistan and the UK. It brings together policymakers, military officials, and strategic experts to address regional and global security concerns.
Upon his arrival, General Munir was formally welcomed with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the historic Royal Horse Guards Parade Ground, where senior UK military officials and dignitaries were present to greet him.
Key Discussions and Engagements
During his visit, General Munir will hold talks with senior UK officials, including Admiral Tony Radakin, Chief of Defence Staff UK, and General Sir Roland Walker, Chief of the General Staff of the British Army. He is also set to meet Jonathan Powell, the UK’s National Security Advisor, and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, to discuss shared security challenges and explore opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation.
The visit comes amid shifting global geopolitical alignments, with the conference providing both nations a chance to exchange views on evolving security dynamics and future collaboration.
Strengthening Military Cooperation
Pakistan and the UK have longstanding military ties, especially in counterterrorism efforts and professional training initiatives. During his stay, General Munir will also visit key British military installations, including the Land Warfare Centre and the 1st Strike Brigade, to gain insights into the UK Army’s modernization programs and strategies.
