Petrol is primarily used in private vehicles, motorcycles, rickshaws, and small cars, making fuel price changes particularly impactful for the middle and lower-middle classes.
In contrast, high-speed diesel is essential for the transport sector, powering heavy goods vehicles, buses, trains, and agricultural machinery such as tractors and tube wells. Diesel price fluctuations significantly influence inflation, particularly affecting the cost of transporting vegetables and other essential goods.
