Punjab Police successfully thwarted yet another terrorist attack by heavily armed foreign militants on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-Punjab border. This marks the second such attack within 24 hours and the third assault this week.
A Punjab Police spokesperson revealed that a group of 20 to 25 militants targeted the Lakhani border post using rocket launchers and advanced firearms. Despite the heavy assault, security forces were able to repel the attackers, forcing them to retreat.
The spokesperson further explained that the terrorists were detected in advance using thermal imaging cameras, allowing the police to respond swiftly and effectively.
Inspector General (IG) Punjab praised the courage and dedication of the police force, emphasizing that “every soldier of the Punjab Police is fully committed to eliminating terrorism and will not allow the enemy to succeed in its malicious intentions.”
It is worth noting that a similar attack was thwarted at the same location just a day earlier, when 15 to 20 militants attempted to storm the checkpoint during the early morning hours. The assailants targeted the post from multiple directions, but Punjab Police reported that the attackers sustained heavy casualties due to the effective counterattack.
