A tragic incident occurred in Campbellpur Musa, Attock, where a tailor was shot and killed, while another individual sustained critical injuries following a dispute over sewing an Eid outfit.
According to police reports, the suspect, identified as Mudassar, opened fire on the tailor, Sajid, after he declined to stitch an Eid dress for him. During the altercation, another individual, Ehsan, was also injured.
Authorities confirmed that Sajid died on the spot, while Ehsan was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. The assailant managed to escape, prompting law enforcement agencies to initiate a search operation for his arrest.
The tragic event comes as Pakistan prepares to observe Eid-ul-Fitr, which is expected to fall on Monday, March 31, 2025, following the completion of 29 days of Ramadan.
According to the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council, the Shawwal crescent is likely to be visible on the evening of Sunday, March 30, provided the sky remains clear. The council’s Secretary General, Khalid Ijaz Mufti, stated that the new moon would be born on Saturday, March 29, at 3:58 PM Pakistan time.
By sunset on Sunday, the moon’s age will surpass 26 hours, making it clearly visible. Mufti explained that a minimum age of 18 hours is required for the moon to be sighted, a condition that will be easily met.
Additionally, the necessary time gap between sunset and moonset, a key factor in visibility, will exceed the 40-minute threshold across multiple cities. With these favorable conditions, the council anticipates no difficulties in confirming the crescent sighting, paving the way for nationwide Eid celebrations on March 31.
