Survivors of the Jaffar Express attack have recounted the terrifying ordeal, describing the chaos and fear that gripped passengers during the assault near Machh, Balochistan.
“After the explosion, we had no idea what was happening. Armed men began checking passengers’ identity cards,” one survivor told the media.
Noor Muhammad, a passenger, recalled, “After the blast, intense gunfire broke out, and we had to run for our lives.”
A female survivor shared her experience, saying, “We were sitting in the train when suddenly a blast occurred. We were ordered to get off and had to walk for two hours after the attack.”
Another passenger, Muhammad Ashraf, described the scene as apocalyptic. “It felt like doomsday. Panic spread everywhere. The attackers didn’t harm women or elderly passengers, but there were more than 100 armed assailants,” he said.
He also noted that Pakistan Army personnel at Paneer Station provided aid and reassurance to the shaken passengers.
Rescue Operation and Aftermath
Security forces successfully freed 155 hostages, including men, women, and children, from terrorist captivity. The rescued passengers were escorted to Quetta under tight security, where anxious family members awaited their return.
According to security officials, the terrorists have suffered heavy losses, forcing them to split into smaller groups. Some injured passengers have been transferred to a nearby hospital, while additional security squads continue operations in the region.
