Pattoki Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Punjab has come under intense scrutiny following the release of a disturbing video showing a sweeper, Abid, performing medical procedures, including stitching wounds and dressing injuries, due to the absence of qualified medical staff. The video, which went viral, highlights the severe negligence in the hospital’s emergency services, raising concerns about the quality of care being provided.
In the footage, the sweeper is seen attending to a female patient, further emphasizing the alarming state of emergency care at the hospital. Citizens have expressed outrage, criticizing the hospital for its lack of necessary medical supplies and the absence of routine emergency staff. Despite receiving significant funding, the hospital remains under-equipped and poorly managed, leading to suspicions of corruption.
The Punjab government is now under pressure to address these serious issues. Local residents have called on Punjab’s Chief Minister to take immediate action, urging a review of the video and holding those responsible accountable.
Further Negligence at Lahore’s Gangaram Hospital
This incident follows another tragic case of negligence at Gangaram Hospital in Lahore, where a baby girl suffered severe burns due to a malfunctioning incubator. The hospital staff allegedly failed to manage the incubator properly, causing it to overheat and burn the infant’s body.
The baby’s father, Rafaqat Ali, described how the hospital staff were uncooperative and rude when he questioned them about the incident, even going as far as expelling him from the nursery. He has since appealed to Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for justice, urging an investigation and accountability for those responsible.
In a similar case last year, a newborn died of burns from overheating in an incubator at Lahore’s Children’s Hospital due to gross negligence by medical personnel. These incidents have sparked growing concerns over the state of healthcare facilities in the region and the need for urgent reforms.
