FAISALABAD/ISLAMABAD: Law enforcement agencies have arrested the main suspect in the recent gang-rape case of a woman near the Faisalabad motorway, marking a significant breakthrough in the investigation.
The victim was allegedly assaulted in front of her husband on the outskirts of Faisalabad. Three other suspects are already in police custody. Authorities have completed a medical examination of the victim and the geo-fencing of the crime scene, while forensic reports are awaited.
Details of the Crime
The incident, which came to light on Thursday, reportedly occurred on March 25, 2025, in Chak No. 62 JB Channan. The couple was returning home from Agriculture University Hostel on a motorcycle when they were intercepted by armed assailants near a motorway bridge.
According to the FIR, the attackers held them at gunpoint, robbing them of Rs800, a mobile phone, and the woman’s identity card. They then took the husband to a nearby sugarcane field, tied him up, and assaulted the woman. One of the assailants called a third accomplice, described as tall and well-built, who later arrived on a motorcycle.
A case has been registered under robbery and sexual assault charges, and a search operation is ongoing to apprehend the remaining culprits.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Police officials confirmed that the victim’s husband initially tried to track down the suspects himself before reporting the incident via the emergency helpline the next day. The victim’s medical examination was conducted, and DNA samples have been sent for forensic analysis.
Authorities have vowed to bring all perpetrators to justice and ensure strict legal action against those responsible for the heinous crime.
