Pakistan’s Foreign Office has firmly dismissed comments made by the Indian Foreign Minister regarding minority rights in Pakistan, asserting that India has no moral standing to lecture others on the matter.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office stated that India has a long history of mistreating its minorities, fostering discrimination, and inciting violence against them.
The statement emphasized that while Pakistan’s state institutions are committed to safeguarding minority rights, incidents of violence and discrimination in India often occur with government backing.
Citing a well-documented pattern of systematic oppression, the spokesperson pointed to India’s discriminatory citizenship laws, demolition of minority homes, the 2002 Gujarat massacre, and the Babri Masjid demolition as clear examples.
The statement also highlighted frequent attacks on mosques, shrines, and other religious sites, further exposing the mistreatment of minorities in India.
The spokesperson underscored that Muslims and other religious communities in India continue to face persecution and institutionalized discrimination.
In conclusion, the Foreign Office urged India to focus on protecting its own minorities instead of making baseless accusations against others. It also called on the Indian government to take meaningful steps to preserve the religious sites and cultural heritage of its minority populations.
