President’s Health
KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari’s health is steadily improving and there is no cause for concern, his personal physician Dr. Asim Hussain confirmed during a media briefing on Saturday.
Addressing public speculation, Dr. Asim dismissed circulating rumors regarding the President’s condition, particularly those spread by social media and Indian news channels, labeling them as “fake and concocted.”
He revealed that President Zardari experienced health issues during Eid prayers, prompting an initial medical assessment in Nawabshah. “When I reached Nawabshah, I decided it would be better to move him to Karachi for further evaluation,” Dr. Asim stated.
The President was brought to Karachi on Monday night, where a series of medical tests were conducted.
“After thorough testing, we diagnosed that President Zardari had contracted coronavirus,” Dr. Asim confirmed.
He added that treatment began immediately and included medications not readily available in Pakistan, which were sourced from abroad. “With the grace of God, his condition is improving,” he said reassuringly.
Dr. Asim noted that the President is expected to be discharged from the hospital either tomorrow or the following day. “With his discharge, all the fake news surrounding his health will come to an end,” he said confidently.
He also cautioned the public against the misconception that COVID-19 is over. “The virus still exists in Pakistan. Although it is no longer in its prime form, cases are still being reported in hospitals,” he said.
He further clarified that the President had contracted a new variant of the virus currently circulating in the country.
Dr. Asim concluded by urging the public to rely on verified information and remain vigilant as new strains of the virus continue to emerge.
