After her memorable cameo as Ranbir Kapoor’s mother in Brahmastra (2022), Deepika Padukone is reportedly set to play Suhana Khan’s mother in Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming action-thriller King.
Fans were captivated by Deepika’s brief but impactful role as Amrita, the mother of Shiva (played by Ranbir Kapoor) in Brahmastra, with expectations high for her role to expand in the sequel. Now, according to an exclusive report by Peeping Moon, the actress will take on a similar role in King, portraying the mother of Suhana Khan’s character.
The film, which stars Shah Rukh Khan as a mysterious assassin, promises to be an action-packed drama with high stakes. If this news is accurate, King will mark Deepika’s sixth collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan, following their successful films Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Pathaan, and Jawan. Both Shah Rukh and director Siddharth Anand were reportedly eager to have Deepika join the project, and she enthusiastically agreed.
Deepika’s previous cameo in Jawan as Shah Rukh’s wife Aishwarya made a lasting emotional impression on audiences, further solidifying her ability to leave a mark even in brief roles. King is expected to be loosely inspired by the 1994 French classic Léon: The Professional, with Shah Rukh playing the assassin and Suhana Khan portraying a young girl caught in his dangerous world. Abhishek Bachchan will play the film’s antagonist.
King is being produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Productions.
Adding to the excitement, this will be Deepika’s first on-screen appearance since becoming a mother in September 2024, making her return to the big screen even more special for her fans.
Whether her role turns out to be another powerful cameo or a more substantial part, Deepika Padukone’s star power remains undeniable, and her return is sure to generate significant buzz.
