ISLAMABAD: The City Traffic Police Rawalpindi has unveiled a detailed traffic management plan in anticipation of the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 matches at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
In an official announcement, the police outlined alternate routes, diversions, and parking arrangements to ensure smooth traffic flow on match days. The plan includes road closures, entry restrictions, and designated parking zones in the vicinity of the stadium to facilitate public safety and efficient traffic management.
The PSL 10 matches will take place in Rawalpindi on April 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 19 and May 7, 8, 10, and 13.
Traffic Diversions and Road Closures
- Club Road: Traffic will be redirected toward Srinagar Highway via Serena Chowk.
- Murree Road (Faizabad to Double Road): This section will be completely closed on April 13 and May 17 during team movements (5 PM departure, 11 PM return). On days with two matches, the closure will extend from 11 AM to 11 PM.
- Islamabad to Rawalpindi: Vehicles will be diverted from Faizabad to the Expressway.
- Rawalpindi to Islamabad: Traffic will be rerouted via 6th Road Chowk to Saidpur Road.
- 9th Avenue Travelers: They will be diverted to IJP Road.
- Stadium Road: This road will remain closed between 9th Avenue Chowk and Double Road during match hours.
Public Transport and Metro Bus Services While the Metro Bus service will continue to operate, three key stations—Rehmanabad, Khatam-e-Nabuwat, and Faizabad—will be temporarily closed during match times due to security concerns.
Commuters, particularly fans attending the matches, are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead of time to avoid delays. Given the expected heavy traffic, the use of public transportation is highly recommended.
Drivers are advised to leave early and use alternate routes to avoid restricted areas. Keeping track of real-time traffic updates from local authorities can also help adjust travel plans as needed.
