The two-day Overseas Pakistanis Convention concluded in the capital, drawing participation from over 1,500 expatriate Pakistanis from across the globe. The event featured notable speeches by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, with participants honoured as state guests.
The convention served as a platform to address key issues affecting the overseas community, including remittances, investment avenues, and access to government services. Attendees were briefed on various investment opportunities and available facilities in Pakistan, while also having the chance to voice their concerns and offer feedback through dedicated sessions.
The event commenced with a recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem and patriotic chants of “Pakistan Zindabad,” setting an enthusiastic tone for the gathering.
Among the distinguished guests were Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, federal ministers, diplomats, and prominent individuals from various fields.
In his remarks, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq underscored the importance of addressing issues such as dual citizenship and voting rights for overseas Pakistanis. He encouraged them to raise these concerns through political channels to push for legislative action.
Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, Qamar Raza, announced that the Prime Minister is expected to unveil a special package aimed at enhancing support and facilities for the overseas community.
The government also acknowledged the significant role played by overseas Pakistanis in bolstering the national economy and assured attendees of its commitment to resolving their challenges.
Participants expressed their willingness to collaborate closely with the government and contribute actively to Pakistan’s development.
