U.S. President Donald Trump has strongly condemned the recent deadly attack on tourists in the Pahalgam region of Indian-administered Kashmir.
The assault occurred on Tuesday when unidentified gunmen opened fire at a popular tourist resort, leaving at least 26 tourists dead and several others injured. The victims, according to Indian media reports, were primarily from the Indian states of Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Gujarat.
In a public statement, Trump called the news of the attack “deeply disturbing” and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. He also offered prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life and stand in solidarity with the victims and their loved ones,” he said.
The incident coincided with the visit of U.S. Vice President JD Vance to India. Vance also condemned the attack during his trip and expressed sympathy for those affected by the violence.
The tragic event has drawn strong reactions from both domestic and international leaders, highlighting ongoing concerns over security in the region. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, and investigations are ongoing.
The massacre has once again drawn global attention to the volatility of Kashmir, an area long plagued by conflict and unrest.
