Quetta Gladiators delivered a crushing 10-wicket defeat to Multan Sultans in the 18th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.
Chasing a target of just 90 runs, the Gladiators made history with their first-ever 10-wicket win in PSL history, securing their fourth victory of the season. They wrapped up the match in dominant fashion, reaching the target with a massive 79 balls remaining.
Opening batter Finn Allen set the tone early, taking on David Willey in the second over with two sixes and a four, scoring 17 runs off the over. Captain Saud Shakeel offered steady support, contributing boundaries to maintain momentum. The duo cruised to 38-0 within the first four overs and brought up their 50-run stand soon after, taking full control of the chase.
By the end of the powerplay, Quetta had surged to 74-0. The match ended with Allen smashing a six off Usama Mir to seal the win. He remained not out on 45 off 21 balls, while Saud Shakeel finished unbeaten on 42 from 20 deliveries.
Earlier, Multan Sultans struggled badly after choosing to bat first. Opener Yasir Khan was dismissed for 5 by Khurram Shahzad, and Usman Khan was out for a duck just two balls later in the same over, leaving the team at 7-2.
Khurram continued his onslaught, removing Kamran Ghulam (3) and Curtis Campher (4) to leave the Sultans in disarray at 20-4 within the first four overs. Efforts to rebuild the innings by captain Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed fell short, as Faheem Ashraf removed Iftikhar for six and later dismissed Michael Bracewell for zero.
David Willey was bowled by Mohammad Wasim Jr for seven, while Usama Mir was run out for 11 thanks to a sharp fielding effort from Rilee Rossouw. Mohammad Hasnain was also run out, scoring just two. Rizwan remained the only resistance, top-scoring with 44 before being bowled by Ubaid Shah. Multan were eventually bowled out for 89 runs in 17 overs.
Khurram Shahzad led the Gladiators’ bowling attack with four wickets. Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Wasim Jr chipped in with two wickets each, while Ubaid Shah took the final dismissal.
