A prominent Chinese analyst has reaffirmed Beijing’s unwavering support for Pakistan in the face of any potential external aggression, underscoring the deep-rooted strategic partnership between the two nations.
Victor Gao, a well-known Chinese commentator and international affairs expert, made the statement during an interview with Indian media.
Gao clearly stated that if Pakistan were to come under attack, China would not remain a silent observer but would stand firmly with Pakistan and offer full support in its defence.
He reiterated that China’s relationship with Pakistan is not merely diplomatic but a strong strategic alliance built over decades. “If any country attacks Pakistan, China will not leave Pakistan alone. We will stand by Pakistan in defending itself,” Gao emphasized.
He also referred to past incidents, including attacks on Chinese nationals within Pakistan, highlighting how Beijing had always demanded transparent and thorough investigations. This, according to him, demonstrated China’s serious approach to the safety of its citizens as well as its deep interest in maintaining stability in Pakistan.
Gao linked his statement to the recent spike in regional tensions following the Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which killed dozens of civilians and has led to a surge in hostility between India and Pakistan.
He emphasized that China has closely followed developments and continues to call for a peaceful and responsible resolution to the conflict.
The analyst’s remarks have drawn global attention, particularly at a time when both India and Pakistan are engaged in tit-for-tat actions and diplomatic friction. China’s strong stance comes as a clear message of deterrence and reassurance for its all-weather ally, Pakistan.
Experts believe that Gao’s statement reflects China’s broader foreign policy approach in South Asia — one that stresses strategic depth, regional influence, and mutual defence arrangements. The reaffirmation of China’s commitment may also serve as a warning to any forces considering escalatory moves in the region.
