While Pakistan was on high alert, responding to Indian aggression and enforcing strict airspace surveillance, an Ethiopian Airlines commercial flight made an unexpected solo journey across the country’s skies.
Flight ETH672, traveling from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to Seoul, South Korea, crossed into Pakistani airspace, according to flight tracking service Flightradar24. The map of its route was shared by the platform, capturing considerable attention on social media.
At a time when other international airlines were rerouting to avoid Pakistani airspace due to increased military activity and tensions, ETH672’s passage through the restricted skies was remarkable. While Pakistan hadn’t formally closed its airspace, several flight paths were closed or unavailable for civilian flights. Despite this, the Ethiopian aircraft continued its journey, visible on radar as it flew across Pakistan.
The incident quickly became a viral topic on social media, with users expressing both surprise and amusement at the flight’s solo route. One user humorously tweeted, “Ethiopian Airlines flight, please exit Pakistan immediately!”
Aviation experts remarked that such a passage during a volatile time is highly unusual. Normally, such flights would require clearance and close monitoring by air traffic control to ensure safety.
There has been no official statement from Pakistani aviation authorities regarding the incident, but it underscores the complex relationship between global aviation and geopolitical issues.
