Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday amid heightened tensions with India, sources confirmed.
His arrival comes as the government faces a critical moment following recent Indian airstrikes that resulted in the deaths of 31 civilians and injuries to dozens more. Sources say Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to brief Nawaz Sharif in detail on the evolving wartime situation and the government’s ongoing response.
A high-level consultative meeting of senior PML-N leaders is also anticipated, during which future strategies will be discussed in response to the regional crisis.
Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Ahmed Sharif condemned the Indian attack, labeling it a cowardly act of aggression. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, meanwhile, praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for delivering what he described as a “crushing response” to the Indian assault, declaring that the military’s swift action had turned a night of aggression into a “moonlit symbol of victory.”
