Pakistan has once again firmly rejected Indian allegations regarding the Pahalgam incident, calling the accusations baseless and provocative. Addressing a weekly press briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan emphasized that Pakistan had no involvement in the incident, and condemned India’s unprovoked actions as a violation of international law.
“India carried out an unjustified assault despite having no credible evidence against Pakistan,” Khan stated. “Can a country justify attacking another simply based on social media speculation? Such conduct is both reckless and illegal.”
Reaffirming Pakistan’s right to self-defence, the spokesperson noted, “Under Article 51 of the UN Charter, Pakistan reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and people.”
He also warned that India’s repeated provocations are escalating tensions between two nuclear-armed states, posing a grave threat to regional peace and stability. He further accused India of undermining bilateral agreements, citing its actions concerning the Indus Waters Treaty as a unilateral breach with serious humanitarian consequences.
Khan criticized the Indian Foreign Secretary’s undiplomatic rhetoric and accused Indian state-controlled media of inciting war hysteria, using the Pahalgam incident as a pretext to spread disinformation and stoke anti-Pakistan sentiment.
“India has long been involved in cross-border terrorism and has carried out drone strikes on multiple Pakistani cities,” he claimed, adding that these attacks have resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians, including women and children.
The spokesperson concluded by urging the international community to take note of India’s aggressive conduct and hold it accountable for violations of international norms and humanitarian principles.
