ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Registrar’s Office on Sunday returned a parole petition seeking the temporary release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, citing several legal and procedural deficiencies.
The application, filed on Saturday by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, sought Khan’s release on parole. However, the IHC Registrar’s Office objected to the petition on the grounds that it was not filed by the “affected person” himself, raising questions about the legal standing of the petitioner.
A primary issue highlighted was that Imran Khan had not been named as a party in the petition, despite being the subject of the requested relief. The Registrar also noted the exclusion of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the authority that convicted Khan, as a respondent in the case.
Further procedural violations included the absence of complete addresses for the involved parties, breaching standard filing requirements.
The court has instructed the petitioner to address the objections and resubmit the application in compliance with legal norms.
