Pakistan’s military has categorically denied rumors circulating on social media about the capture of an Indian pilot during the recent escalation with India.
Speaking at a press briefing on Sunday, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, addressed the growing speculation, particularly claims suggesting that Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Shivangi Singh had been taken into custody following the downing of her aircraft.
“I want to state very clearly that no Indian pilot is in our custody,” Lt Gen Chaudhry clarified. “These are baseless claims spreading through social media. It’s part of a wave of misinformation and propaganda emerging from various sources.”
The rumors gained traction after Pakistan conducted retaliatory strikes against India, prompting a surge of unverified videos and posts suggesting the capture of the IAF’s only female Rafale fighter pilot.
India has also refuted the claims, dismissing them as fake and urging the public not to be misled by disinformation on social platforms.
When asked about India’s statement that its air force operations were ongoing despite a ceasefire agreement, Lt Gen Chaudhry responded that Pakistan’s military remains alert and fully prepared to respond to any provocation.
“Our readiness and ability to respond decisively to aggression has been demonstrated multiple times,” he added.
