No Casualties Reported; Mild Tremors Also Felt in Karachi
PASNI: A 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck near Balochistan’s coastal city of Pasni on Saturday, triggering brief panic among residents, according to the National Seismological Centre.
The quake occurred at a depth of 14 kilometers, with its epicentre located 40 kilometers southwest of Pasni, in the Makran coastal region. Although tremors were strongly felt in the surrounding areas, no immediate reports of damage or injuries have been received.
Earlier the same day, light tremors were also felt in parts of Karachi. The Seismological Centre recorded a 3.2 magnitude quake at 9:54 a.m., with the epicentre located north of Malir at a depth of 35 kilometers.
Residents in several Karachi neighborhoods, including Quaidabad, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulzar Hijri, and along University Road, reported brief shaking. The tremors lasted only a few seconds, and no damage was reported.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and follow safety protocols in case of aftershocks.
