In a recent interview, Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, alluded to potential major actions against Iran expected to take place later this week. Without offering specific details, Leiter suggested that events unfolding on “Thursday night and Friday” would surpass previous Israeli operations in both scale and impact.
Speaking to Merit TV, the ambassador stated, “We’ve pulled off a number of surprises. When the dust settles, you’re going to see some surprises on Thursday night and Friday that will make the beeper operation almost seem simple.” The “beeper operation” is believed to reference earlier, smaller Israeli missions.
Leiter also openly discussed the possibility of targeting Iran’s Fordow underground nuclear facility, acknowledging that only the United States has the military capacity to carry out such an airstrike. “In order for Fordow to be taken out by a bomb from the sky, the only country in the world that has that bomb is the United States,” he noted.
He further emphasized that the final decision regarding an aerial strike lies with Washington, stating, “That’s a decision the United States has to take, whether or not it chooses to actually pursue that course.”
The comments have fueled speculation of a looming escalation in the already tense Israel-Iran standoff, especially in the wake of recent Israeli strikes on Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure and Iran’s retaliatory missile launches.
