Actress calls online claims “false, speculative” and warns of consequences
Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat has firmly dismissed social media rumors claiming she has been banned from entering the United Kingdom, calling the reports “completely false and speculative.”
In a statement shared across her official social media accounts, the Ms. Marvel star condemned the claims, which falsely linked the alleged ban to her recent appearance in Indian artist Yo Yo Honey Singh’s music video Jatt Katta.
“No such action has been taken against me,” Hayat clarified. “These are deliberate false assumptions. I urge responsible media outlets to fact-check before publishing, especially when reputations are at stake.”
The Tamgha-i-Imtiaz recipient also hinted at potential legal action against those spreading the misinformation, stating that a record of such targeted disinformation is being maintained.
Currently receiving acclaim for her role in the drama serial Dyane, Hayat remains one of Pakistan’s most recognized film and television stars. She gained widespread popularity with her 2012 breakout role in Mere Qatil Mere Dildar and made her film debut in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani (2015). Her international recognition grew with her performance as Ayesha in Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel series.
Hayat concluded her statement with a call for ethical journalism and digital responsibility, warning that the unchecked spread of fake news can cause real reputational and emotional damage.
The origin of the rumour remains unclear, but the incident has reignited concerns over the growing influence of unverified social media narratives.
