Premier Responds to Delay in Promised Support
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has pledged to immediately provide the promised financial reward to national boxing champion Shahzaib Rind, following public outcry over a delay in delivering the government’s earlier commitment. The issue gained attention after Rind took to social media to express concern over what he described as a “miscommunication” regarding the reward.
The premier has since taken “serious notice” of the matter and directed officials to resolve the issue without further delay. Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar addressed the situation in a statement, offering an official apology for the lag in disbursement. “We sincerely apologise for this unjustified delay; sportsmen like you are our real heroes, and we value your achievements,” said Tarar. “You have brought great honour to the country and made us all proud.”
Government Vows Reforms to Avoid Future Oversights
In addition to ensuring Rind receives his due recognition and financial reward, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reportedly instructed government departments to implement measures that prevent similar administrative oversights in the future. The prime minister’s response reflects an effort to reassure national athletes of the government’s commitment to supporting their contributions to Pakistan’s international sporting image.
Minister Tarar reiterated this commitment, stating, “The PM has further instructed that such mistakes must never happen again.” He acknowledged the frustration caused by the delay and assured that the necessary steps would be taken to ensure timely fulfillment of future promises.
Shahzaib Rind, who has represented Pakistan on multiple international platforms, continues to be celebrated for his achievements in the ring. The government’s renewed promise aims to restore trust and show respect for the nation’s athletes who bring pride and recognition to the country.
