President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on Saturday, August 2, 2025, for a two-day official state visit. This visit is being held at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and will continue through August 3.
President Pezeshkian will be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, which includes Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, senior ministers, and top officials. The visit is expected to enhance bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation in various sectors between the two neighboring countries.
During his time in Islamabad, Dr. Pezeshkian is expected to hold a series of high-level meetings. He will meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and engage in delegation-level discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This will mark Dr. Pezeshkian’s first official visit to Pakistan since assuming office as President of Iran.
The upcoming meetings are anticipated to focus on strengthening diplomatic, economic, and security ties. Both sides are also expected to discuss regional developments, particularly issues concerning peace and unity in the Muslim world.
The visit builds on the momentum of recent engagements between the two nations. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had visited Iran on May 26, 2025, during which various matters of mutual interest were discussed. Officials in both capitals have since expressed optimism about deepening cooperation in trade, energy, border security, and religious tourism.
Earlier this year, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with President Masoud Pezeshkian during a visit to Tehran. During their meeting, Naqvi conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s message of goodwill to the Iranian leadership and congratulated Iran on what he described as a “historic victory against Zionist aggression.”
Naqvi also highlighted Pakistan’s prompt and decisive stance in condemning the Israeli offensive, affirming Iran’s right to self-defense. He reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to Muslim solidarity in the face of external threats.
President Pezeshkian, in turn, emphasized the need for unity among Muslim countries. He warned that political leaders and decision-makers in the Islamic world must remain alert to the strategies employed by the Zionist regime and work collectively to counteract these efforts. He called for strengthening cooperation, unity, and solidarity among Muslim nations to resist division and external manipulation.
The visit is being closely observed by diplomatic circles in the region, especially amid rising tensions in the Middle East. It signifies a renewed commitment by both Pakistan and Iran to deepen strategic and brotherly relations, focusing on shared values and regional stability.
The two-day state visit is expected to conclude with the signing of several memoranda of understanding and bilateral agreements aimed at enhancing collaboration across multiple sectors.
