ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has strongly condemned the federal government for what it described as a deliberate spread of misinformation regarding the legal status and travel plans of party founder Imran Khan’s sons, Sulaiman and Kasim. In a statement issued on Saturday, PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram accused the government of lying out of fear and insecurity.
He slammed the regime for labelling the children of the incarcerated former prime minister as “foreign nationals,” despite both holding National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOPs), which grant them the right to enter and stay in Pakistan.
“The oppressive and tyrannical government was forced to lie out of fear of Imran Khan’s children coming to Pakistan. This shows how weak and cowardly they truly are,” said Mr. Akram.
Sons Hold Legal Documents, Visa Process Ongoing, PTI Claims
Providing further details, the PTI official stated that visa applications for both sons had been submitted through the Pakistan High Commission in London. Sulaiman’s tracking ID was cited as 88005575178, and Kasim’s as 88005575782. In addition to visas, applications for NICOPs were also filed — a process that typically takes a few weeks, although visas can be issued within hours.
According to Mr. Akram, a friend of the Khan family who contacted the Pakistani High Commission in London was informed that the embassy required clearance from the Ministry of Interior. However, the interior ministry has since denied any role in the visa issuance process, further clouding the situation.
“There’s no consistency in the government’s position. First, they say visas haven’t been applied for, and then claim they aren’t involved at all,” Akram remarked.
He concluded by formally releasing documentation confirming the NICOP status of both Kasim and Sulaiman, stating their legal right to enter Pakistan is indisputable.
