Vital Document for Family Verification and Legal Processes
ISLAMABAD – The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) continues to offer the Family Registration Certificate (FRC), a crucial document that provides detailed verification of all registered family members. As of August 2025, the fee for obtaining the FRC remains unchanged at Rs1,000.
The FRC is an essential document for Pakistani citizens, especially when applying for visas, foreign immigration, school admissions, inheritance claims, or other official matters that require family background verification. It helps confirm that all individuals listed in the certificate are registered in the NADRA database.
Citizens can apply for the FRC under three categories:
- By Birth – This certificate includes details of the individual’s parents and siblings, showing the complete family structure.
- By Marriage – This version lists the applicant’s spouse and children, verifying immediate family information post-marriage.
- By Adoption – This certificate outlines the details of the adopted individual and their legal guardians.
It is important to note that only individuals who have a valid 13-digit Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number issued by NADRA can be included in an FRC. Anyone without this ID number will not appear in the document.
How to Apply for an FRC
Pakistani citizens can apply for the Family Registration Certificate through two main channels:
- At NADRA Registration Centres (NRCs) across Pakistan
- Online via the Pak-Identity website (https://id.nadra.gov.pk)
For overseas Pakistanis, the FRC can be obtained by visiting the nearest Pakistani consulate or embassy, where NADRA services are available.
Despite economic changes, NADRA has maintained a stable processing fee of Rs1,000 for the FRC, ensuring affordability and accessibility for all citizens.
