Security forces have successfully foiled a major infiltration attempt from Afghanistan into Pakistan’s Zhob District, eliminating 33 terrorists linked to India-backed militant networks. The operation took place in the Sambaza area of Zhob, Balochistan, and resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives.
Details of the Infiltration Attempt
During the night operation, security forces detected the movement of a large group of militants associated with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to as khwarij by authorities. The terrorists were reportedly part of the Indian proxy group “Fitna al-Khwaraj” and were attempting to cross into Pakistan through rugged terrain along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Upon detection, Pakistani troops engaged the infiltrators with precision fire, preventing them from breaching national territory. As a result of the swift and coordinated action, 33 terrorists were neutralized. Following the engagement, a sanitisation operation was launched to ensure no remaining threats were present in the vicinity.
Weapons and Explosives Seized
Authorities reported the recovery of:
- A large cache of modern and conventional weapons
- Ammunition for various calibres
- High-grade explosives intended for large-scale attacks
The successful interception is being viewed as a critical achievement in the ongoing campaign to neutralize Indian-backed terrorism inside Pakistan.
Government Response
Following the incident, the Prime Minister praised the courage and professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces, calling the operation a remarkable success in the fight against terrorism. He commended the soldiers for risking their lives to defend the nation’s sovereignty and vowed to continue operations until every trace of terrorism is eradicated.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that the nation stands united with its armed forces, emphasizing that the battle against extremism is both a security and moral responsibility. He reiterated that terrorism in any form will not be tolerated and that decisive action will continue until peace is permanently established.
Broader Counter-Terrorism Context
Security analysts note that infiltration attempts across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border have historically been part of a wider strategy by hostile elements seeking to destabilize the region. Following recent defeats of militant proxies in open conflict, these groups have intensified their cross-border attacks.
The armed forces have responded with increased surveillance, stronger border defenses, and more aggressive counter-terrorism measures to ensure that no infiltration attempt succeeds.
Bannu Counter-Terrorism Operation
In a separate development, a joint operation by the Pakistan Army and police was carried out in Bannu District to root out local militant facilitators. Acting on intelligence reports, security forces cordoned off targeted areas, arrested several suspects, and demolished properties belonging to two known militant facilitators.
Local residents welcomed the operation, acknowledging its importance for maintaining peace and security. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to working closely with communities to permanently eliminate the threat of terrorism and restore stability.
