Star-Studded Charity Match to Support Flood Relief Efforts
Renowned Pakistani cricketer Babar Azam is set to headline a charity cricket match in Peshawar, organized to raise funds for flood-affected communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The event will take place at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, where Babar will represent Peshawar Zalmi in a high-profile clash against the Legends Eleven.
The charity match, scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM local time, is expected to draw a crowd of 17,000 spectators despite the stadium still being under construction. The match aims to generate substantial funds through ticket sales, all of which will be donated to support ongoing flood relief operations in the province.
Alongside Babar Azam, cricket legends such as Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, and Kamran Akmal are also expected to take the field, boosting the event’s appeal and drawing fans from across the region.
Ticket prices have been structured to accommodate a wide audience. Ordinary seats are priced at Rs 1,000, while more premium options include 800 VIP seats and 200 VVIP seats. The VVIP enclosures, priced at Rs 50,000 per seat, have already been purchased by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister and cabinet members, underscoring government support for the initiative.
Pakistan to Face Afghanistan in Tri-Nation Series Opener
In addition to the charity event, Pakistani cricket fans have another reason to stay glued to their screens. The Tri-nation T20I series kicks off tomorrow (Friday) with Pakistan facing Afghanistan in the opening match at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Salman Ali Agha, who has previously captained the national side in 18 matches, will lead Pakistan’s 17-member squad. The third team in the tournament is the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the final will be played on Sunday, September 7, between the top two teams.
All matches in the series will be held in Sharjah, with fans eagerly awaiting some competitive cricket as teams gear up for international events later this year.
